Steffenie Kay Marburger (Hayward) Quinlan passed away peacefully at Big Spring Care Center in Humansville, Missouri on November 3, 2025 at 1 am. Steffenie was born in Iowa City, Iowa along with her twin brother Steven and of 11 children their mother Barbara Mae Barstow Marburger and Willard (Bill) Marburger had they were the only set of twins of three that lived past birth. Steffenie grew up in Green Island, Iowa and married Larry Hayward on October 18, 1969, they shared 25 years and two daughters Dariena Mae (Rick) Applegate and Diana Kay Vote. Steffenie was a stay at home mom until the family moved to central Kansas in 1978. She worked part time at the nursing home in Marquette, Kansas. She enjoyed spending time with her grandmother Thelma and processing many apples from their apple orchard. In 1982 they moved to Morrisville, Missouri and Steffenie was still a stay at home mom and would drive the hay truck in the summer and sling firewood in the winter. Years later, after the girls were on their own, Steffenie met and married John Quinlan of Bolivar, and gained three step-children, LaTara Cordon, David Quinlan, and John Matthew Quinlan. Steffenie worked at Butterfield Care Center in Bolivar, and later went to work at Tracker Marine alongside John. Years later Steffenie got hurt at work, and a required surgery that made her become totally disabled. The couple shared 14 years of marriage before John was injured at his job at Rental World/ DJ's RV in Bolivar that led to his untimely death in 2011. Steffenie then turned her focus to her family who she became closer to. Her mother came to live with Steffenie's family after her father passed away, and that's where she was until 2012 when she passed away. Steffenie spent many seasons with her family and she is so going to be missed. She loved her God and often studied the Bible and would talk of the Bible to anyone who would listen. She was baptized into the Church of Christ in Kansas. Steffenie most recently loved to do Diamond Art and coloring in creating things she made that made her happy, leaving small tokens of things she created to give to others. Steffenie is survived by Dariena Mae (Rick) Applegate of Dunnegan, Missouri, Diana Kay Vote of Bolivar, Missouri, five grandchildren, Jessica Diann (Todd) Earl, Josie Mae Applegate, Gattlin Hayward Vote, Jacob Dean Applegate, and Gabriel Hayward Vote; three great-grandchildren, 0wen, Hadley, and Valhi Earl. Steffenie is preceded in death by her parents, many brothers and sisters and many other beloved family members and dear friends. Steffenie did not want a service and wanted to be cremated under the direction of Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, Missouri. Steffenie was a great woman, who endured many obstacles in life but she remained strong and always persevered.
