Stephanie Wolters
Stephanie Lynn Wolters (nee Leistico), age 57 of Hartford, passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2025, at Aurora Medical Center.
Stephanie was born on December 16, 1967, at the Beaver Dam Hospital, the daughter of John E. and Carolyn J. (Kikkert) Leistico. She was baptized at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Juneau. Her elementary education was at St. John's Ev. Lutheran School in Juneau. Stephanie's high school education continued at Lakeside Lutheran High School in Lake Mills, Wisconsin. She was always so proud to tell people she graduated from Lakeside and kept in touch with many friends she made there to this day. She was involved in a major car accident caused by an intoxicated driver. Though her life was nearly taken, she survived only due to Med-Flight M.D., Dr. Purdy. Stephanie then attended UW-Whitewater, earning a degree in Special Education in 1990. She taught at a school in Winneconne, Wis., while living in Menasha, Wis. Steph then moved to Kansas City, Missouri. She was employed by the State of Missouri as a Special Education Evaluator. She met her husband, Mark E. Wolters, while working there. They were married in 1999, and were blessed with two children. They moved back to Hartford, Wisconsin, where she deeply enjoyed their home.
Stephanie developed health problems over the years and was being cared for by a number of health specialists. Through it all, Stephanie maintained a positive attitude.
Stephanie was blessed with her brother, John Joshua Leistico in November 1981. She called our Pastor in the middle of the night to tell him of John's birth. John and Steph were best friends throughout their lives. She introduced him to rock concerts when he became a teenager. Stephanie loved to go to these. Her wish was to go to one when she got well enough.
Stephanie is survived by her parents, John and Carolyn Leistico; children, Brennan John Richard Wolters, and Braden Case Wolters; brother, John J. Leistico; aunt, Margie B. Kikkert; former husband, Mark Wolters; and further survived by other aunts, uncles, cousins; and many wonderful friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Case and Helen Kikkert, and John W. and Loraine Leistico.
