LaGrange - Stephen K. Curtis, age 76, of LaGrange, passed away peacefully on his birthday, Sunday, January 4, 2026, at The Waters of LaGrange.

He was born on January 4, 1950, in Sturgis, Michigan, to the late, Donald D. and Mildred J. (Gitt) Curtis.

Stephen was a lifelong resident of LaGrange and a graduate of Lakeland High School, Class of 1968. He worked for many years at Machine-Rite in LaGrange and later operated a gun and archery shop, C & L Supply, in Howe, Indiana.

Stephen had a deep passion for the outdoors, especially deer hunting, which was one of his greatest joys. Over the years, he cherished the many hunting experiences he enjoyed, including black bear hunting in Maine, wild boar hunting, and countless turkey hunts-memories that reflected both his adventurous spirit and love for the sport.

On June 1, 1977, Stephen married Sandra S. Sowles, who preceded him in death on July 16, 2024.

Stephen is survived by his son, Andy K. Curtis of Howe, Indiana; his daughter, Melinda Taylor of McKinney, Texas; his stepson, Kurt R. (Roxanne) Bachman of Wolcottville, Indiana; and his stepdaughter, Kristi (Paul Cherry) Bachman of Kendallville, Indiana. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Paige (David) Young, Conner (Aaron) Duzan, Karch Bachman, Karis (Jack) Welsh, Raegan Taylor, and Wyatt Curtis; and eight great-grandchildren, Dominic and Emily Young; Lucille, Millie, Archie, and Dottie Duzan; Jetsen Cowen; and Cassidy Curtis. He is further survived by his sister, Kathleen Curtis of Indianapolis; and his brothers, Phillip (Barbara) Curtis of Fishers and Kem (Gail) Curtis of LaGrange.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Frurip-May Funeral Home, 309 West Michigan Street, LaGrange, Indiana, with Pastor Thurston Jones officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time.

Stephen's cremated remains will be laid to rest beside his wife, Sandra, in Ontario Cemetery in Howe, Indiana.
