Stephen John Davis, better known as Steve, was a creative and thoughtful soul who filled the world with his charisma and talent. Born on March 14, 1947, in Aberdeen, WA, he brought a unique spark of life that was truly one-of-a-kind. Steve was a lifelong resident of Chehalis and part of the W.F. West class of 1965.
Steve lived a multifaceted life full of love, laughter, and connection. He was a talented contractor by trade, but his creativity extended far beyond his profession. He had a passion for baking, decorating cakes, woodworking, watercolor and acrylic painting, drawing, gardening, drafting plans, and restoration projects. He used these talents not just as hobbies, but as a means to connect with people. His custom cakes and cookies were legendary, and more than that, they were a symbol of his thoughtful nature and generosity of spirit. Despite his many skills, Steve's greatest achievements were not tangible. They were the strong bonds he built with family and friends, the trust he earned from countless individuals, and the legacy of love, humor, kindness, and integrity he leaves behind.
Steve is survived by his beloved spouse, Charleen Davis; his daughters, Jennifer Porter (Chad) and Tryna Galbraith (Matt); his brother, Robert Davis (Dee); his grandchildren, Kathy Layman, Nicole Arends, Avery Porter, and Hannah Porter; and his sister-in-law, Joyce Davis. He is also survived by his nieces, great nieces and nephews, and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Iver Davis, and his brother, Charlie Davis.
Steve's life will be celebrated on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 1:00pm PDT at the Mountain View Baptist Church, located at 1201 Belmont Avenue, Centralia, Washington, 98531. A luncheon will follow.
In the spirit of Matthew 5:16, "In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven," Steve surely shone his light upon us all. His charismatic and engaging personality, combined with his genuine and heartfelt nature, made him a beacon of love and kindness in the lives of everyone he met.
