Stephen Douglas Tipton, age 48, of Erwin, passed away on Monday, December 13, 2021, at Unicoi County Hospital. A native of Erwin, Stephen is the son of Paul Douglas and Fredia Joyce (Shelton) Tipton. He was a Welder by trade and was of the Christian faith. Stephen loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting. Just walking in the woods gave him comfort and peace. He was stubborn, but he loved his family and he had a big heart.
In addition to his parents, Stephen Douglas Tipton has left behind to cherish his memory: love of his life: Rebecca Ruskowski; children: William "Billy" Tipton, Hilden Tipton, Tiffany Sparks Coffey, Skyra Carver and Brionna "BB" Milsap; grandchildren: Tomas Coffey, Aden Coffey and Josef Coffey; Sister: Alanna Miles (George Tabor); Niece: Kelsie Miles; and many cousins and friends.
The family would like to offer special thanks to Pastor Craig Shelton, George Tabor, and to Stephen's cousin, Angela Edwards Shelton.
The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Stephen Douglas Tipton in a memorial service to be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, December 19, 2021 at Sweetwater Church of God, 100 Sweetwater Loop, Flag Pond, TN. Reverend Craig Shelton will officiate. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 2:00 pm on Sunday, December 19, 2021 and will continue until service time at Sweetwater Church of God.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made directly to Rebecca to help with expenses.
Condolences and memories may be shared with the family and viewed at www.valleyfuneralhome.net or on Facebook at FuneralHomeErwin. These arrangements are made especially for the family and friends of Stephen Douglas Tipton through Valley Funeral Home, 1085 N. Main Ave., Erwin, 423-743-9187.
