CAPT Steve Clarke (Ret) DC USN
February 19, 2024
Worked with Steve at Little Creek and after discussing our previous military lives, incredibly found we were both stationed together at Camp Lejeune, he was in 2nd Battalion, 10th Marines and I was in 3rd Battalion, 10th Marines (both artillery officers). Both changed careers to dentistry. Didn't forget to toast the Marines on 10 November. An honor and privilege to know and serve with this gentleman! Condolences to the family.

I remember Steve well from my times in and out of Norfolk VA with the Navy. And as a periodontist. we had more than the usual contacts in the workplace. He was a great guy and a dedicated professional. My sympathies to his family. Semper Fi Hank Towle Newberry FL

Steve was a great colleague when he worked as a hygienist for years at Little Creek, and was always someone I could go to for another opinion or advice. He got me into race walking when I was injured, and I had been told I shouldn´t run anymore. We went to a race walking clinic together, and did a few events together. I still have my race walking shoes that he recommended , but I haven´t used them much recently, even though his mentorship was excellent. He was terrifically dedicated to his family, and went the extra mile to care for them. I asked for his advice numerous times on matters of dentistry as well as race walking / running, and I always enjoyed his company. Unfortunately, we didn´t stay in touch (my fault - it´s too easy to get absorbed in work and other things), and I am very sad to learn of his passing.

Favorite memory. When Steve, Hartley and I finished a race together and the officials couldn´t say who finished first.
