Stephen B "Steve" Duvall

Steve Duvall was a devoted husband of more than 50 years, standing faithfully beside the love of his life through extensive medical challenges with unwavering strength and compassion. His marriage was a testament to loyalty, patience, and deep commitment. He was a proud father who celebrated his children's accomplishments and took great joy in watching them build their own lives. As an older brother and mentor to three siblings, Steve was a steady source of wisdom, always ready with practical advice on life's important matters. He will be remembered by his grandchildren for his sense of humor.

Steve was born on September 30, 1948 to Melba Lemon and Charles Duvall in Ottawa, Kansas. He died peacefully with family after a short illness on February 7, 2026 in Sandy, Utah. He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by wife Kay, children Kristin (Justin) and Bryan (Cheyanne), 4 grandchildren, siblings Barb (Jack), Mickey (Patty), and Paula (Jerry), and extended family members.

Steve attended the University of Colorado at Boulder where he earned his degree in Business. While attending CU, he spent summers in Jackson, Wyoming where he met Kay and continued to date her for several summers. They married in Bountiful, Utah and raised their kids in Colorado and Utah. He built a respected career with Chevron and Dyno Nobel, where he became an expert in the complex logistics of transporting valuable and hazardous cargo. Steve enjoyed swimming, snow skiing, racquetball, and water skiing. He loved houseboat trips to Lake Powell, classic American road trips (Denver to Key West in one trip!), and exploring the beautiful Canadian Rockies.

A passionate hot rod enthusiast, Steve was a skilled mechanic who loved working on cars and showcasing them at local and regional car shows. His enthusiasm for engines, craftsmanship, and community brought him lasting friendships and countless proud moments. Steve will be remembered for his strength, generosity, knowledge, and the quiet confidence with which he guided those around him.

A celebration of life will be held on April 11, 2026 at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. 10600 S. in Sandy. Service will begin in the chapel at 11 am with a reception noon-2 pm. We will cruise around the cemetery at 1:30 pm. Please bring your hot rods and hang out one last time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriner's Children's Salt Lake City Adaptive Bike Program.
