Stephen John Enk, 72, of Elburn, Illinois, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025, at Rush Hospital in Chicago, surrounded by loved ones.
Born September 17, 1952, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Steve lived a full and vibrant life defined by his deep love for family, a passion for learning, and a generous spirit of service. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Jackie Enk; son Rich Enk (Beth); daughter KC Cavazos (Shaun); cherished grandchildren Natalie and Avery Enk, Myles Enk, and Cassidy and Callie Cavazos. He is also survived by siblings Michael Enk, Gary Enk (Pat), Kathy Enk (Rick Phillips), and Cheryl Cary (Patrick); as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Steve was preceded in death by his son Tony Enk, his parents John and Shirley Enk, and many other loved ones who no doubt welcomed him with open arms.
Steve dedicated 32 years of his career to Molex, where he served as Director of Systems Architecture. A meticulous thinker and respected leader, he left a lasting mark not only through his work, but also through the friendships he built with colleagues over the decades. A lifelong learner and problem-solver, in 2016, Steve returned to school to study tax preparation. He went on to volunteer with the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program, serving as a Tax Counselor, Technical Coordinator, and Assistant State Coordinator - always eager to help others with his time and knowledge.
A man of many passions, Steve held a private pilot license for over 20 years. He loved flying - whether to visit family or simply to take to the skies with Jackie for breakfast outings. Sports were another constant in his life. Steve was a dedicated fan of the Chicago Bears and Chicago Bulls, often recording games so he could rewatch and break down plays with his sons Rich and Tony, or discuss key moments with his son-in-law Shaun.
For 25 years, Steve coached Tri-City Soccer, guiding and inspiring not only his three children but also countless other young athletes. Coaching them all to championships remains one of his proudest achievements.
His greatest joy came from time spent with his grandchildren - attending softball games to cheer on Cassidy and Callie, and watching fireworks displays in Wentzville, Missouri, orchestrated by Myles. These moments were the heartbeat of his happiness.
Steve was a man who found joy in the little things-like discovering treasures at Aldi and Menards, teeing off in his golf leagues, or just spending quiet moments with Jackie. He loved well, laughed often, and lived with purpose.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 11, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Healy Chapel, 370 Division Drive,
Sugar Grove, IL 60554. Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 9 a.m. at St. Gall Catholic Church, 43W885 Hughes Road, Elburn, IL 60119. Private burial of ashes will take place at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Mt. Sterling, IL at a later date.
Steve will be remembered for his warmth, loyalty, and quiet strength. His legacy lives on in every life he touched - as a husband, father, Papa, coach, mentor, and friend. He will be missed dearly but remembered with joy by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He flew high in life and now, he soars ever higher.
