Obituary published on Legacy.com by Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary on Nov. 25, 2025.
Today, we gather in love, in memory, and in deep gratitude for the life of Stephen Ray Farrior. A man whose presence filled every room, whose laughter lifted every spirit, and whose heart touched every person blessed enough to know him. Stephen was born on June 26, 1968, in
Talladega, Alabama, where he grew up surrounded by family, community, and the roots that shaped his character.
He was educated in the Talladega City School System, and even as a young man, his personality stood out; funny, lively, playful, and always the one people gravitated toward. Stephen was a proud truck driver, holding his CDL traveling the country, a career that not only demonstrated his hard work and dedication, but also reflected the way he provided, protected, and showed up for the people he loved. Stephen was entertaining, charismatic, and unforgettable. His sense of humor was the perfect blend of charming and playful, always knowing how to make someone smile, always knowing how to bring joy exactly when it was needed. He had a way of lifting the heavy moments and celebrating the good ones. That gift made him a beloved part of his community and the heartbeat of many family gatherings. He wasn't just at the party. He was the party, bringing people together with laughter, music, and love.
To his family he was many things. He was the loving son, honoring the family who raised him. He was the ride-or-die brother, always loyal, always standing strong beside those he loved. And most of all, he was the protective dad, raising five beautiful children, who carry pieces of him in their smiles, their strength, and their spirits. He was the favorite uncle, the one who showed up ready to support, joke, or guide.
As we honor his life today, we also honor the connections he built, the joy he spread, and the legacy he leaves behind, a legacy living within his family, his children, and every life he quietly or boldly touched.
A legacy of love for Stephen is left in the heart of his mother, Mary L. F. White of
Talladega, Alabama.
Five children: Shakia Morgan of Birmingham, Alabama, Stephanie R. Staples (Damien Staples) of Atlanta, Georgia, Stephen R. Fomby of
Talladega, Alabama, Stephanie R. Lowe of
Talladega, Alabama, and Stephanie L. Farrior of Marietta, Georgia.
Six siblings: Tracy L. Chapman (Samuel Chapman) of
Talladega, Alabama, Col. (Ret.) Cedrick A. Farrior (Cassandra Farrior) of Huntsville, Alabama, Hakeem Rasheed, Andre Hubbard (Carla Hubbard), Michael Cook (Krystal Cook) of
Talladega, Alabama and Johnny Cook of Atlanta, Georgia.
Not to exclude eight grandchildren; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Though our hearts are heavy, we celebrate Stephen for everything he was. May we carry his memory forward by loving each other the way he loved us– fully, loudly, and without hesitation. Rest well, Stephen. You will forever be loved, forever be remembered, and forever be missed.
Stephen was preceded in passing by his father, Johnny Ray Cook; his grandparents, Earnest and Carrie Thomas, and Willie and Betty Farrior; and a host of loving aunts, uncles, and a nephew, Tevin Farrior.
