Stephen Fockler Obituary

Stephen Karl Fockler, a devoted husband, and father, passed away on June 10, 2025, in Norfolk, Virginia, at the age of 75. Born on October 11, 1949, in New York, Stephen lived a life defined by love, service, and a deep connection to the sea.
A proud Vietnam veteran, Stephen served his country with honor and courage in the United States Navy. After his military service, he built a successful career as a field technician with Verizon, dedicating over 40 years to keeping communities connected in an ever-evolving world.
Stephen's heart was always drawn to the water. Whether navigating the waves in his boat or setting sail across the Hampton Roads, the sea offered him peace, freedom, and countless cherished memories. It was there that he was most energized and where he enjoyed sharing adventures with those he loved. Stephen was a self-taught chef, and the time he spent sharing his creations with his family and friends was always an event to not miss.
Stephen was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert, and Teresa Fockler, and by his brother Gerry Fockler. He is survived by his beloved wife, Denise Fockler; sons, Stephen M. Fockler, and David M. Fockler; his sister Tarie Allen; step-children, Erin Hazlett, and Benjamin Hazlett (Crystal Hazlett), and many nieces and nephews who will forever carry his memory with them-anchored by love and guided by the values he instilled.
A celebration of Stephen's life will be held at a later date, offering friends and family an opportunity to gather, share memories, and honor the extraordinary life he lived.
May Stephen Karl Fockler rest in peace-his spirit forever sailing on calm waters, where the wind is always at his back headed towards greater adventures. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Stephen, please visit our floral store.
