Scott's Funeral Home - GatesvilleStephen Ray Gohlke, age 71, of Gatesville, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, March 8, 2026.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 19, 2026, at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Christopher Richmann officiating.
Stephen was born March 26, 1954, in Gatesville, Texas, to the late Raymond and Cleo Schmalriede Gohlke. He was raised in Coryell City and attended school in Gatesville, graduating from Gatesville High School in 1972.
After graduating, Stephen began working for Deckboat before finding his true calling in concrete construction, where he worked alongside his brother for many years. He enjoyed this type of work because each project presented new challenges and opportunities. Through dedication and hard work, he built a career in the concrete industry before retiring in 2021.
On June 5, 1987, Stephen married Lynn Beck and together they made their home in Coryell City. He loved being outdoors. One of his favorite pastimes was watching the return of Purple Martins each year. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, and fishing, and he always tried to plant the seeds of God’s word when talking with others.
Stephen was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lynn Gohlke; his son, Jarad Gohlke and wife Carlee; his stepson, Ryan Crawford and wife Shalan; his sister, Marsha Johnson and husband Steve; his brother, Norman Gohlke and wife Debbie; his grandson, Jadon Ray Gohlke; and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church, 10801 FM 929, Gatesville, Texas 76528.
