Obituary of Stephen Todd Gomolka
Stephen Todd Gomolka, known by all as "Bopper", passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at Wynn Hospital in Utica.
Stephen was born in New Hartford on January 22, 1971, the son of Stephen B. and Anne (Finnerty) Gomolka. He was raised in Utica and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. At one time, Stephen was employed with RCIL in Utica, where he shared his unique gifts for caring for people, and especially children, with special needs. For the past several years, Stephen dedicated his life, lovingly caring for his mother as her health began to decline. He enjoyed watching jeopardy with his mother, was an avid reader with a vast collection of books, was a gifted artist, a collector of a wide variety of antiques and memorabilia and loved animals, especially his beloved canine companion, Nippsy. He was also a sports enthusiast, whose favorite teams include, the Miami Dolphins, NY Knicks and NY Mets. Stephen was a kind soul with a heart of gold who was the first to help his neighbors or anyone in need. He was of the Catholic faith.
Stephen is survived by his loving mother, Anne Gomolka of Utica; two sisters, Karina Gomolka of New Hartford and Amanda Gomolka of Sarasota, FL; one brother, Daniel Gomolka of Utica; two nieces, Sara Gomolka and Santina Luce; nephew and Godson, Zachary Gomolka; great nephew, Anthony Palmacci, Jr.; aunts and uncles, Maria and Carmen DiNigro of Deerfield, Edward and Kathy Gomolka of Forestport, Irene and John Armstrong of New Hartford and Henry Gomolka of NY Mills as well as many cousins and dear friends too numerous to mention and his beloved canine companion, Nippsy. He was predeceased by his father, Stephen and grandparents, Benny and Josephine Gomolka.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to Stephen's funeral service on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica. He will be laid to rest in St. Joseph Cemetery in Yorkville. Visitation for family and friends is Wednesday December 6 from 4:00-7:00 p.m.
