Stephen Hutchison Obituary
He was a loving son, brother, husband, and father. After Serving in the United States Air Force for 10 years, Stephen went to work for the Railroad as an Engineer where he retired after 30 years.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, daughter Stefanie Hutchison.
He is survived by his wife Sarah Hutchison, sisters Shirley Harvey, Beverly Cox, Jewel Butler, brother William L. Hutchison wife Patti, son Brian Harless, and numerous families and friends.
The family will be having a Celebration of Life at a later date.

Hutch and I spent a lot of our early railroad careers together in locomotive engineer school and our off time playing backgammon. I just heard of his passing and wish to send my condolences to Sarah,Brian and all the family. I considered him a true friend indeed. RIP Hutch!

I met Stephen when he entered CSX locomotive engineer service. As he boarded the locomotive, he introduced himself and told me that he was going to teach me all about running a train. I was without an answer for the 1st time in my life, but it didn't take long to converse. We were USAF Veterans, born 9 days apart in March of 1949, strong willed (hard headed), and now in the same Railroad career path. Several years later we accepted a lucrative temporary transfer to Garrett IN to fill a manpower shortage due to the Conrail acquisition. According to our coworkers in Richmond, we wouldn't make it 30 miles without a major run in. Twenty one months later we returned to Richmond without an unpleasant exchange. We shared an apartment, activities, while a trusting friendship grew, sharing our lives ups and downs until his last days. Needless to say, I am broken at the loss of my trusting friend, and broken for his Bride, Sarah. My condolences to all of the bereaved. RIP #1.
