A Life of Laughter: Celebrating Stephen "Steve" Jones

Stephen "Steve" Jones, a man who could win a debate, fix a fence, and pull off a Santa suit with equal aplomb, has passed away at the age of 75. Known for his quick wit, a healthy dose of "expert-level" stubbornness, and a heart as big as the South Florida Fairgrounds, Steve left a lasting mark on everyone he met.

A Foundation of Family

The son of Floyd and June, Steve was a protective and spirited big brother to Mike (Jenelle) and Karen (Robert). His greatest life achievement, however, began in high school when he met Amy. The two became inseparable, celebrating 56 years of marriage and adventure and proving that high school sweethearts really can go the distance.

Steve was a caring father to Steve Jr. (Joann) and Jennifer (Kenlynn), and a grandfather to Hunter. He was the kind of dad who always wanted to lend a hand, usually accompanied by a playful joke or a bit of "helpful" banter.

He relished his role of uncle, and enjoyed opportunities to spend time with Allison, Mealinda (Nick), Richard (Raine), and Caroline and great niece Bailey and nephews Nicklis and Samuel.

Horses, History, and Holiday Magic

Steve's passions were as varied as his jokes. An avid outdoorsman, he found peace while skiing down a mountain or working with horses. His deep affinity for horsemanship led him to become a beloved fixture at Yesteryear Village and the South Florida Fair, where he spent countless hours volunteering and sharing his love for local history and animals.

Whether it was a loyal dog at his feet or a horse in the barn, Steve had a natural connection with animals. His time spent playing Santa Claus was another favorite. With a natural twinkle in his eye and a laugh that could fill a room, he brought the magic of Christmas to life for many.

A Legacy of "Good Trouble"

While Steve was famously obstinate, a trait he wore like a badge of honor, he always balanced it with a genuine love for people. He cherished the many friends he met along the way, from the early days of his youth, through the journey of owning his own small business, and into his retirement years. He truly loved nothing more than time spent with his family and friends, a good joke, and the chance to argue his point just for the fun of it.

He leaves behind a legacy of integrity, laughter, and the reminder that a life well-lived involves a bit of playfulness and a lot of love.
