Obituary of Stephen Keefe
Stephen "Steve" Keefe, a beloved son, husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on September 8, 2024, in the home he loved. Born in Staten Island, New York, to Margaret and Francis Keefe, Steve was raised in Menlo Park Terrace, Metuchen, New Jersey. He married the love of his life, Laura, on September 30, 1989, and together they built a life full of love and memories.
Steve was a devoted father to Krissy and Jake and he gave his whole heart and love to his grandchildren. He took immense pride in raising his family in Bethlehem Township, where he established his own welding business, S&L Welding. A skilled and passionate union welder, he worked for Local #25 Sheet Metal Workers for over 30 years, Steve not only honed his craft but also generously shared his expertise by mentoring aspiring welders in the union.
In addition to his work in welding, Steve's love for fireworks led him to work as a pyro-technician with Garden State Fireworks for almost 20 years, his son and son-in-law later joined to share his passion alongside of him. His dedication extended beyond his professional life as he actively contributed to his community by serving on the Bethlehem Township Committee for over ten years.
A man devoutly of many passions, Steve enjoyed camping, fishing, riding his motorcycle and tinkering around his beloved home. He was also a steadfast supporter of the local VFW Post, reflecting his deep commitment to his community and his country.
Steve's legacy lives on through his family and all those he knew. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Laura; his children, daughter, Krissy Kelson and her husband Drew and his son, Jake Keefe; grandchildren, Kasey Rose Kelson, Kenzie Brook Kelson and Kolt Ridge Kelson; his mother, Margaret Keefe; sisters, Patty and Kathy Keefe and brother Ken Keefe. Also, the countless friends, family and colleagues who will remember him fondly.
