Stephen Kilanowski, 70, of Roaring Brook Twp., died Friday evening at Regional Hospital of Scranton after an illness. His wife is the former Ramona Malinowski.
Born May 14, 1952, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of the late Edward and Helen Ciastan Kilanowski. Stephen was a Vietnam era United States Navy veteran obtaining the rank of petty officer second class as a radar technician. While in the Navy he served in Greece and played football while serving in Europe.
Prior to his retirement, Stephen was employed by National Grid of Brooklyn, N.Y., a natural gas company. He was a very talented drummer who performed with many notable rock and roll acts and played at the Orlando Music festival. Stephen was a gifted football player and had try-outs with the NFL's Washington Redskins and New York Jets. He was a member of St. Eulalia's Church in Roaring Brook Twp. and the American Legion.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Catherine Kilanowski, Scranton; and Christopher Kilanowski, Blakely; brother, Edward Kilanowski, White Haven; grandchildren, Emma, Finn, Aubrey and Lucas; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Frank and Martin Kalinowski.
A blessing service will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. in Duffy & Snowdon Funeral Home, 401 Church St., Moscow.
Friends may call Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment and rite of committal will be conducted at St. Anthony's Cemetery, Dickson City. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Disabled American Veterans.
