Stephen Krucelyak Obituary

Stephen Peter Krucelyak, 90, of Punxsutawney, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, June 19, 2025, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family.
Born in Punxsutawney on July 27, 1934, Stephen was the beloved son of the late Stephen and Annie (Stefko) Krucelyak. Stephen lived a life rooted in family, faith and service to those he loved. He held a quiet strength as he made sure the family he loved was guided and supported.
He was a devoted member of S.S. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church and a United States Army veteran. A member of the Teamsters Union, he was a hardworking man who spent many years driving delivery trucks for Jefferson Grocery and G&G Frozen Foods.
Stephen had a warm heart and enjoyed a hot cup of coffee. He was a longstanding member of the coffee club, a gathering of gentleman from days gone by, at Carulli's. Daily, Steve met with friends to connect over current events and share in humorous exchanges.
On July 28, 1956, Stephen married the love of his life, Stephanie Ann Padisak. Together, they shared 62 beautiful years, filled with love, laughter and the joys of raising a family. Since her passing in 2018, Stephen remained devoted to her memory, and we find peace in knowing they are now joyfully reunited.
At the heart of Stephen's life was his family. As the beloved patriarch, he was the steady hand and gentle soul that guided his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Whether gathered around the table or sitting on the porch, his presence brought comfort, wisdom and warmth.
A simple joy that brought Stephen happiness was sharing ice cream with his family - his favorite treat. Fittingly, his loved ones honored him with ice cream on the porch the day he passed, a small but meaningful tribute to a man whose love was as sweet and enduring as the memories he leaves behind.
Stephen is survived by his loving children, Michael (Carla) Krucelyak of Punxsutawney, David (Pam) Krucelyak of Millsboro, Delaware, and Karen Setree of Punxsutawney; his cherished grandchildren, Brian (Stephanie) Krucelyak, Kyle Krucelyak, Derek Krucelyak, Kera (Kurtis) Koziara, Craig Setree, and Hollyann (Scott Black) Setree; and his adored great-grandchildren, Noah Krucelyak, and Kullen, Koda, and Kincaid Koziara. Stephen was greatly anticipating the arrival of a fifth great-grandchild in November. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Jo Krucelyak, Delores Krucelyak, and Josephine Hoover.
In addition to his beloved wife, Stephanie, Stephen was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Joseph, William E., and Robert K. Krucelyak; and two sisters, Betty Brown and Dorothy Krucelyak.
Stephen's legacy lives on in the hearts of those he loved and who loved him deeply in return. His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure, and he will be missed beyond measure.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., in Punxsutawney. A Panachida service will follow at 2 p.m., officiated by Father Vasyl Kadar. Interment will follow at S.S. Peter and Paul Byzantine Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.shumakerfh.com.

My sympathy & prayers to all the family. I think he graduated the same year that I did from Punxsutawney High School in 1952. I also went to the Byzantine Church in Punxsutawney & made my First Communion at the church.
