Stephen Landry Obituary
Published by Legacy on Nov. 13, 2025.
Stephen Robert Landry of Buxton passed away on November 8, 2025 at the age of 61, at Gosnell Hospice House in Scarborough after a brave journey with cancer. He showed remarkable strength and courage throughout that battle.
Born on May 26, 1964 in Westbrook, Maine, the son of Raymond and Rita (Thuotte) Landry. Stephen was a graduate of Westbrook High School, Class of 1982. He was an Associate Partner and Director of Information Technology at SMRT Inc. He worked as an information technology professional and had a 30-year track record of effectively managing IT infrastructure for organizations. With a strong knowledge of network operating systems and a passion for problem-solving, it was rare for Steve to find a problem he couldn't fix. Steve had his single engine pilot license and was passionate about flying planes, all aircrafts and the study of astronomy. In addition to his love of science, he was very mechanically inclined. He had a knack for working on engines. He was especially proud of his first brand new truck, a 1987 GMC 4x4 that he bought at the age of 22. He restored that truck and kept it in pristine condition. He enjoyed working on the 250-year-old homestead farm, whether it was operating his John Deere tractor or putting his carpentry and electrical skills to use. He was a man of few words but when he spoke, you could take his words to the bank. He was always there for anyone who needed a helping hand. Steve will be sorely missed by many friends and his family.
With all that said, here is a letter to our dad:
Dear Dad,
You weren't just a father but a brother, uncle, godfather, son and Pepere. Your love, humor, kindness, and wisdom touched the lives of everyone around you, and your absence is deeply felt by all. For your children, you taught us not only how to make an angle cut on a 2x4 when building a picnic table, or drive a stick shift but to not take sh*t from anyone, always think of a clever quip. Your laughter, smile and jokes put smiles on so many faces. Though we mourn your loss, we celebrate the incredible life you lived. We will remember the countless memories we shared, the laughter and the love we felt. We find solace in knowing that you are now at peace, and will always be watching over us wherever we are. You weren't perfect, but you were ours. Thank you for being our father, in the best way you knew how. We love you, we miss you and we will continue to make you proud.
Love, your favorite children
Steve is predeceased by his mom, Rita Landry. He is survived by his father, Raymond Landry, 2 daughters and son, Charlene (her child Estella and soon-to-be-born son), Cassidy and Patrick, brother Christopher (his wife Donna), nephew Ben (his wife Ashley and their kids Everett and Emma), niece Lily (her wife Shanna). Steve and his late mother had a deep love for animals, especially cats. Steve was known to give any cat, especially those that were unwanted, sick and old, a loving home for their final days. In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland, to continue care for these animals.
