Obituary
Stephen George Moryl, age 76, of Elgin, IL, and formerly a longtime resident of Oswego, NY, passed away on October 1, 2023. He was born September 13, 1947 in Fulton, NY to his loving parents, Stephen and Veronica (née Bogdziewicz) Moryl.
Steve graduated from Mohawk Valley Community College. He then joined the United States Army where he served for two years before being honorably discharged in 1973. During his service, Steve earned the National Defense Service Medal and a Sharpshooter M16 Badge.
Steve worked as an electrical engineer for Nine Mile Point – Constellation Energy in Oswego, NY, retiring in 2004 after 30 years of employment.
Steve and his wife Gail were married for 42 years, and together they raised four daughters.
Steve was the rock of the family. He had a strong work ethic, a funny sense of humor, and a quick wit. He enjoyed spending time on Lake Ontario and Lake Michigan, and loved his toys, the Evergreen Dream (his classic Dodge van) and the Red Rocket (2002 Corvette). And he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Steve could fix anything with a screwdriver. And he had two rules: "Have Fun, Be Good." He often said, "Life has many turns, hang on and enjoy the ride!"
Steve is survived by his wife, Gail Moryl; daughters, Heidi (Clinton) Roeder, Laurie (Ty) Fitzpatrick, Tammy (Brian) Dona, and Valerie (Ed Onecic) Moryl; brother, Dennis (Patty) Moryl; and grandchildren, Miles and Max Roeder, Ella and Tate Fitzpatrick, Preston Dona, and Evan and Paloma Onecic.
Visitation will be 5:00pm to 9:00pm, with funeral service and military honors at 6:30pm, Thursday, October 5, 2023 at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park Street, Elgin, IL 60120. Michael Murschel will be officiating.
