Stephen L. “Steve” Poole, 64, of Rigby, Idaho, passed away at home on March 7, 2026.
Steve was born on December 28, 1961, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Larry Poole and Margaret Wheeler Poole. He grew up in eastern Idaho and built a life rooted in hard work, family, and the outdoors.
In August of 1987, he married Laurie Ann Erickson in Rigby, Idaho. Together they created a life centered around their family, raising their children and later enjoying every moment with their grandchildren, who meant the world to him.
Steve worked as a Crop Advisor for Valley Agronomics for 40 years before retiring in December of 2024. He took great pride in his work and was known for his knowledge, strong work ethic, and willingness to help others. Over the years he became a mentor and friend to many.
Steve loved anything that kept him busy and challenged. He enjoyed snowmobiling, camping, fishing, teaching the grandkids about jet boating, and spending time in his shop working on projects. He especially loved the challenge of working on classic vehicles or building something from scratch, including a jet boat with his son. Some of his favorite times were spent in Kilgore at his uncle’s ranch, surrounded by family. Whether he was fishing for trout on the Snake River or chasing steelhead on the Salmon River, he felt most at home outdoors.
Above all, Steve loved his family. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he lovingly referred to them as his “trophies.” He never missed their games, recitals, or school programs, and he treasured the time he spent with them.
Steve is survived by his loving wife, Laurie Poole of Rigby, Idaho; his children, Jay Dee Poole (Megan) of Rigby, ID and Kristyne Davis (Kasey) of Pocatello, ID; his grandchildren, Ashtyn, Paige, and Beau Poole, and Charlotte, Jameson, and Ruby Davis; his mother, Margaret Poole; and his sisters, Caroline Watson (Rand) and Rebecca Hanson (Eric).
He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Poole.
Services will be held Friday, March 13, 2026, at 11:00am in the Menan LDS Church (3547 East Menan-Lorenzo Hwy, Menan, ID 83434).
