Stephen Porter Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mayer-Ethridge Funeral Home - Georgetown Chapel on Feb. 24, 2026.
Stephen Glenn Porter, Sr., a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on February 19, 2026, in Georgetown, SC, from respiratory failure. Born on April 17, 1964, in Baltimore, MD, Stephen lived a life marked by love, generosity, and humor. He shared 61 years of life's journey with his beloved family and friends, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and kindness.

Stephen is survived by his devoted wife, Connie, with whom he built a beautiful life filled with laughter and love. He was a proud father to his son, Stephen, Jr., and a guiding light to his daughter-in-law, Alexis Atkinson Porter. His joy was multiplied with the arrival of his grandson, Stephen III, whose presence brought him immense happiness. His son Colin, and Colin's partner, Sabrina Frank, also held a special place in his heart. Stephen's sister, Sharon Fallin, and brother-in-law, Lee Fallin, will remember him as a loving and protective brother.

Stephen's professional life was spent as a welder and supervisor at Evapco, Inc., where his work ethic and leadership were respected by all who worked alongside him. His dedication to his craft was matched only by his commitment to his faith, as a Christian who lived by the principles of love and service to others.

An avid enthusiast of World War II history, Stephen could often be found immersed in books and documentaries, eagerly sharing his knowledge with anyone interested. Sports played a significant role in his life, from watching his sons play baseball to enjoying tennis matches and football games. His passion for sports was infectious, and he was known for his ability to engage others in spirited discussions about the latest game. He had a soft spot for dogs and was his granddog Lily's devoted caretaker in recent years.

Stephen's sense of humor was undeniable, and he had a subtle wit and charm that did not go unnoticed. His generosity knew no bounds, and he was always the first to offer help to anyone in need. His love for his family and friends was evident in everything he did, and he will be remembered for the joy and laughter he brought into their lives.

Stephen's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved him, but his legacy will live on through the cherished memories he created with each person he met. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a man who made the world a brighter place simply by being in it.
