Stephen Pozniak

Stephen Pozniak, 66, lifelong resident of Purdy, Missouri, passed away on October 22, 2025. He was born on October 29, 1958.
Stephen spent many years working at the Veterans Hospital in Mount Vernon, where his dedication and kind spirit made a lasting impact on both coworkers and patients. He was known for his quick wit, and genuine care for others. In his retirement years he enjoyed selling items at the Piddling Place in Purdy.
An avid card player, Stephen could often be found at the table with friends and family, sharing laughter and a friendly competitive streak. During the holidays, he cherished spending time in the butcher house with family, swapping stories, making memories, and enjoying each other's company. He especially treasured time spent with his nieces and nephews, who brought great joy and light to his life.
Stephen was a lifelong member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Pulaskifield, Missouri, where his faith was an important part of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernie and Ruby Pozniak; his brother, David Pozniak; and his wife, Sandy (Hunt) Pozniak; niece, Kori Pozniak and nephew, David Pozniak II.
He is survived by his siblings, Michael Pozniak of Pine Island, Florida; his sister Donna and husband Richard Bottorf of Republic, Missouri; sister-in-law Kathy Pozniak of Springfield, Missouri; and brother Kevin Pozniak of Purdy, Missouri. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, who will miss him dearly.
Stephen will be remembered for his good humor, generosity, faith, and the love he showed to all who knew him. His presence will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Pulaskifield with Father Paul Pudhota officiating. Interment will follow at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions have been requested to the Building Fund at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Pulaskifield in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, MO.
