Stephen Lewis Proctor, 69, of Pryor, passed away on February 28, 2025, in Pryor, Oklahoma. He was born on September 27, 1955, in Pryor, the son of L.A. and Patsy Proctor. A lifelong resident of Pryor, Stephen was known for his deep love for his mom and dad, as well as his wife, children and grandchildren. He graduated from Pryor High School, where he cultivated his passion for baseball, achieving a record batting average. His love for the game continued well beyond high school, and he played softball until he was 35, collecting countless trophies for his remarkable batting skills. He spent over 30 years working in Receiving and Handling at Georgia Pacific, where he made lasting friendships. He also worked at Pryor Stone for several years. In 1993, he married the love of his life, DJ, in Eureka Springs. Their years together were filled with love, laughter, and shared adventures. Stephen had a simple yet fulfilling philosophy—eat, sleep, fish—and he lived it to the fullest. Fishing was more than a pastime; it was a passion. There were no safe crappie in Lake Fork. He was proud to have caught two record-setting bass from Lake Fork. Stephen was a devoted member of Creekside Church, where his kind and generous spirit shined. He was known for his warm heart, his quick wit, and his love of storytelling. He never met a stranger and cherished every opportunity to visit, listen, and share stories with those around him. Stephen leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, DJ Proctor of the home; sons, Casey Proctor, James Garner of Mazie, OK, and David Garner and wife Leslie of Chelsea, OK; daughter, Kathryn Robinson of Houston, TX; four grandchildren, Kaylynn Garner, Jackson Robinson, Gage Garner, and Dafne Garner; and his parents, L.A. and Pat Proctor of Pryor, OK. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Breanna Proctor.
