Stephen A. Rashevich, 51, of Westfield, IN passed away unexpectedly Monday, February 20, 2023, at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis, IN.
Stephen was born February 18, 1972, in Michigan City, IN. He was a graduate of Saint Joseph High School in South Bend, IN where he acquired a passion for football, making All-State his senior year. Steve went on to attend Butler University with a full-ride football scholarship and obtained a bachelor's degree. While attending Butler University he was president of Sigma Nu fraternity and was a nose guard for the Bulldogs, where he qualified as an Academic All-American all four years. After graduating, he went on to pursue a career in medical device sales and logistics. During this time in his life, Steve converted to Catholicism and took great joy in his faith.
Throughout his life, Stephen was an avid reader who enjoyed many authors, including Harlen Coben, Dick Francis, and J.K. Rowling. He instilled that love in his children. Steve never missed an opportunity to join a pickup game of basketball or a round of golf. He was a sports enthusiast, especially with Butler Basketball and loved watching football with his family on Sundays. He enjoyed his many vacations during the children's earlier years, watching March Madness with his family, and playing with his dogs, Sasha and Lily.
Stephen is survived by his three children, Kate, Stephen, and Thomas Rashevich of Fort Wayne, IN; mother, Jean Kosanovich of Westfield, IN; sister Anne Marslender; nephews, Alexander, Griffin, Andrew, and Ian Marslender of Fishers, IN; and his children's mother Sarah Rashevich of Fort Wayne, IN.
Stephen was preceded in death by his father Stephen Rashevich, Jr.; grandparents, John and Elizabeth Sells and Stephen and Elizabeth Rashevich; stepfather, Mike Kosanovich.
Visitation will be held Thursday, March 2, 2023, 5:00 pm - 7:00 with a Rosary Service at 4:30 pm at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, IN. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am, Friday, March 3, 2023, at Saint Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4916 Trier Road Fort Wayne, IN with calling one hour prior.
His burial will be in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne, IN.
