Stephen R. Richer

Stephen Robert Richer, 63, of Essex Junction, Vermont, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026, after a year-long battle with acute myeloid leukemia. He was born on January 26, 1963, in Burlington, Vermont, to Stephen and Joan Richer.
Stephen married the love of his life, Jennie Babcock, at the Cathedral of Saint Joseph on June 14, 1997. Together, they built a life filled with deep love, laughter, and cherished memories.
He worked in the automotive industry, where he was known for his exceptional talent in restoring and painting both classic and modern cars. Stephen took great pride in his craftsmanship and was admired for his dedication and skill. Outside of work, he enjoyed cooking, spending time with his family, and going for long drives with his wife.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Jennie Richer; his parents Stephen and Joan Richer his children, Stephanie Morrill and her husband Travis, Sarah Richer and her partner Jeremy Babcock, Shelby Richer and her partner Keith Long, Stephen Richer and his partner Emily Mayo, and Samantha Richer; and his 13 grandchildren: Tykillian, Tayte, Remi-Leigh, Kylo, Lux, Rexha, Vayda, Oaklynn, Clover, Violet, Rowen, Ryan, and Paige.
He is also survived by his brothers, Tommy (and his wife, Frances), Scott, and Tony; his sister, Jennifer; his nephew, Kevin; and two nieces, Michelle and Logan.
Stephen was a devoted husband, father, and papa whose legacy of love, dedication, and kindness will continue to live on through his family and all whose lives he touched. He will be deeply missed.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Ready Funeral Home 261 Shelburne Road Burlington on Tuesday March 3, 2026 from 5 pm to 7 pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday March 4, 2026, at 10 am at St Josephs Cathedral 29 Allen Street Burlington. Interment will follow at New Mount Calvary 79 Plattsburgh Ave Burlington.
