ENOSBURG FALLS – Stephen E. Royce, aka, “Eggie”, age 60, passed away on Tuesday, February 25th, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Stephen proudly served his country right out of high school, his commitment to service reflected his strong character and dedication to those around him.
A devoted family man, Stephen was affectionately known as "Pappy" by his cherished grandchildren. He found immense joy in spending quality time with them, often engaging in his favorite activities such as camping and hiking. His love for the outdoors mirrored his zest for life, and he thrived in creating joyful memories with his family. A true jokester, Stephen was always the life of the party, filling every gathering with laughter and warmth. Stephen loved spending time with his Catamount Poker family playing in tournaments.
Stephen is survived by his partner, Diane Elwood; children, John Billado and his wife Crystal, and their children Ava, Alayna, Eli, and Ryan Elwood and his significant other Brittany, and their children Bryella, Bryant, Ava and Gage, and Kyle Elwood and his wife Gabe, and their children, Carolina, Rhett, and Sawyer; mother, Joanne Daigneault and her husband, Andre; father, Wayne Royce and his wife, Evelyn; siblings, David Royce and his wife, Cheryl Gove, Norman Royce and his wife Lori, Naomi Chance and her husband Freddy, and Emma Aiken and her husband Tom; special nieces, Kattie and Christina, and many nieces, nephews, and friends of the poker community.
Friends and family will be invited to Stephen's life celebration events to include a visitation on Thursday, February 27th, 2025 from 5-6:00PM with a memorial service following at 6:00PM at the Goss - Spears Life Celebration Home, 96 Dickenson Ave., Enosburg Falls, VT 05450.
A burial and celebration of life will be held this summer at South Richford Cemetery.
