Stephen Rydell Obituary
February 11, 1975 - October 8, 2025
On October 8, 2025, Stephen D. Rydell, 50, of Egg Harbor Township, left the embrace of his mother's arms to be welcomed into the arms of Jesus in eternity. Some knew him as Scuba Steve and some more recently as Mr. Sunshine, but anyone who encountered his warm smile and bright colored personality knew he could light up any room he walked into. From New Jersey, to Myrtle Beach, and down to Florida, he was known for his beautiful artwork, incredible drinks, amazingly bright fashion sense, and his colorful sense of humor. "Be water, my friend." He is most recently known for spreading light and love around Moffit Cancer Center with bright, beautiful, hand painted inspirational rocks which are now on display in rock gardens outside of Moffit Cancer Center.
Stephen was predeceased by his father, Richard A. Rydell; his grandparents, Ellen and Art Rydell and Marita and Donald Nowe. He is survived by his mother, Marita A. Rydell-Sullivan (Michael); his brother, Richard M. Rydell (Nikki); his sister, Marita A. Feeney (Sam); his sister, MichelAnn V. Sullivan; his brother, David E. Sullivan (Jane); his brother by another mother, Chad; and his special Aunt Dub. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Elizabeth, Cassie, Luca, Cole, Cora, Nico, Cade, Clay, Cowan, his beloved "Ray-Ray" Rhema; and his many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A service will be held in Stephen's honor on October 18th at Adams-Perfect Funeral Homes, Inc. located at 1650 New Road, Northfield, NJ 08225. A Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. with a service following at 12 p.m. As a way to honor Stephen's life, the family asks everyone to please wear bright colors.
