Steve Simon, 81, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on September 24, 1944, Steve lived a full and meaningful life marked by dedication to his family, strong work ethic, and a generous heart.
Steve was the beloved husband of Sharon, with whom he shared 44 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a life rooted in love, loyalty, and laughter and the occasional screaming match.
He was a one-of-a-kind father to his daughters, Stephanie, Kimberly, and Stacie. His daughter Stephanie held a deeply special place in his heart. She was a constant and loving presence in his life — involved, supportive, and always there when he needed her. Their bond was one of closeness, understanding, and unwavering love, and he cherished the time they shared.
He was a proud grandfather to Gabrielle, Amber (Dylan), Arianna, Krystie, and Malakhi. Steve was also blessed with great-grandchildren Vanessa, Gemma, Jayden, and the light of his life, Ellianna, who brought him immeasurable joy, laughter, and pride.
Family was always the center of Steve’s world, and he found his greatest happiness simply being surrounded by those he loved.
Before retiring, Steve worked as a truck driver, a career that reflected his independence, resilience, and dedication. He formed many lasting friendships over the years and was known for his strong personality, sharp wit, and loyalty to those he cared about. Affectionately nicknamed “Grumpy” by his close friends, the name was worn with humor and love. Beneath that tough exterior was a man with a big heart who would do anything for the people he cared about.
Steve shared a very special bond with his cousin Patty, whom he was especially close to and fond of throughout his life. He also shared an extraordinary friendship with his closest friend, Donny. The two spent countless hours together, making memories, sharing stories, and forming a bond like no other — one built on loyalty, laughter, and years of shared experiences.
Steve had a passion for classic cars and could spend hours admiring their craftsmanship and history. He also had a special fondness for elephants, reflecting his quiet strength and gentle spirit. Known for appreciating a good deal or bargain, he took pride in finding value in both life’s simple pleasures and the meaningful moments shared with family and friends.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Steven Simon and Bessie Simon (Matejka); his twin brother, David, who passed at birth; his beloved son, Steven Simon; and his cherished grandson, Damian Young. As well as his close friend Lee Thomas.
Steve’s legacy lives on through the generations he helped shape with his love, guidance, humor, and unwavering presence. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
