Stephen Sluka Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by F. John Ramsey Funeral Home - Franklin on Mar. 20, 2026.
Stephen P. Sluka, aged 77, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Valley View Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Newton. He was born in Sussex, New Jersey, to his late parents Steve J. and Anna (Ramplith) Sluka. Stephen was raised in Franklin, where he remained a lifelong resident of the area.

He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1966, proudly serving with the Seabees until his honorable discharge in 1970. Stephen held his military service close to his heart and remained deeply proud of his time in uniform throughout his life.

Stephen dedicated many years as Director of Building and Grounds for the Mount Olive Board of Education and was an active member of the New Jersey School Building and Grounds Association. A skilled woodworker, he generously shared his talents, helping with numerous homes and projects throughout the surrounding community. In his free time, he found joy in simple pleasures, especially taking long drives with his wife, with no particular destination, just for the sheer enjoyment of the journey.

Stephen was predeceased by his parents Steve J. and Anna (Ramplith) Sluka, and his sister Susan Knutelsky. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Linda A. (Geydoshek) Sluka. He also leaves behind his devoted son, Stephen Sluka (Melissa), and his loving daughter, Diane Kane (James). He will be deeply missed and forever cherished by his grandchildren, Benjamin, Cooper, Addison, and Lily.

A visitation will be held on Monday, March 23, 2026, from 2:00-4:00PM and 7:00-9:00PM located at F. John Ramsey Funeral Home, One Main Street, Franklin, New Jersey 07416. A Funeral Mass will take place at 10:00AM, on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, located at the Immaculate Conception R.C. Church, Franklin. Interment will follow at North Hardyston Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Stephen's memory to the Wallkill Valley First Aid Squad or the Franklin Fire Department.
