Stephen L. Spressert

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Stephen L. Spressert Sr., who left us unexpectedly on December 7th, 2025, at the young age of 56. Born on March 15th, 1969, in South Amboy and raised in Monroe, NJ, Stephen will be remembered as a loving father, a loyal friend, and a warm presence in the lives of all who knew him. He was predeceased by his parents, Richard J. Spressert and Jeanette Spressert. Stephen's passing leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know and cherish him. Stephen began building a beautiful life early on with the birth of his first child, Nicholas Herbstman. He later married and welcomed two more cherished children into his world, Sabrina M. Spressert and Stephen L. Spressert Jr. He is survived by all three of his beloved children, as well as Nicholas' wife, Katelyn Herbstman, and their son, Liam Herbstman. He is also survived by his brother, Kevin Spressert, and Kevin's wife, Kara Spressert. Stephen pursued his education at Rutgers University, completing it with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, Management, and Operations. From there, he started his career at SSI, Hub City becoming the VP of Sales for over 14 years. He continued an impressive resume moving on to the title of Regional Sales Director at Datalink. Stephen will always be thought of as the man who brought joy and light to everyone around him. He had a laugh unlike any other, full, contagious, and capable of lifting the spirits of an entire room. He carried himself with an unmistakable blend of confidence and grit, and he lived with a sincerity that left no one guessing what he was thinking; Stephen spoke his mind with honesty and heart. He had a love for life's simple pleasures-making the best pancakes, savoring a home-cooked meal, and indulging in any television show involving vampires. He also had a well-known appreciation for a sharp, well-tailored suit. And, of course, it would be impossible not to mention his unwavering devotion to the Dallas Cowboys. Stephen answered to many nicknames throughout his life, but the ones that meant the most were Dad, Pop, and Pop-Pop. When he loved, he loved deeply; when he showed up, he gave his whole heart. He took great pride in coaching his children's sports teams and never missed an opportunity to celebrate a milestone, big or small. Stephen was also a gifted writer, leaving behind notes and letters carefully written over the years, treasured keepsakes that will forever hold his voice, his humor, and his love. Stephen faced many battles throughout his life, and although his time on this earth was far too brief, we find comfort in believing that he has now found a profound and beautiful peace in the afterlife. May the weight he once carried be lifted, and his spirit finally set free. A visitation will be held at the Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Pl, Keyport, NJ on Friday, December 12th, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 10:00 AM Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Fatima Parish St. Joseph's RCC, 376 Maple Place, Keyport NJ on Saturday, December 13th, 2025.
