July 28, 1968-May 31, 2024
Stephen E. Starkey, age 55, of Texas City passed away May 31, 2024, in his home after a short but courageous fight with cancer. Memorial Service are 3:00pm Friday, June 7, 2024, at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home in Galveston.
Steve was born in Centerville, Illinois to Myrleen Watkins Starkey. He previously lived in the metro Houston area where he worked in retail management. Steve moved to the Galveston area seven years ago where he found his dream job working the past five years at Access Care of Coastal Texas in Galveston. He was extremely proud of being a part of an amazing team helping people living with HIV/AIDS.
He loved to bake for others and wood working. Steve was a caring person that would help anyone in need.
Preceded in death by his mother Myrleen, and brother Larry Starkey, survivors include his husband Nathan Daryl Exom, brother Charles Starkey as well as numerous family members and friends. The family would like to acknowledge one special friend, Darron Miller who was a rock of support over the past year.
The family is asking in lieu of flowers, please donate to ACCT in Steve's name.
If possible, the family ask that you wear various shades of blue to the service in remembrance of Stephen.
