Steve Parnell, 69, of the Antreville Community, husband of Charlene Loner Parnell, died Friday, July 18, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Abbeville to the late James Dudley ‘Red’ Parnell, Sr. and Irene Underwood Parnell.
A 1974 graduate of Dixie High School, Steve’s career was marked by many years of service to his community. He dedicated over 20 years to Ashley Medical Transport and Honea Path Fire and EMS, providing the community with compassion and dedication. In addition to his career in EMS, Steve retired after 42 years of service with the Antreville Volunteer Fire Department. His contributions to the community were a testament to his character and devotion, always putting others before himself.
Steve cherished his family above all else. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as camping and working on his farm. These hobbies brought him great happiness and allowed him to create lasting memories with his loved ones. He was a faithful member of Little River Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by a daughter, Crystal Vaughn and a grand-daughter, Kelsey ‘Glowie’ Granger.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Charlene; daughter, Amy Granger (Shane); two brothers, Jimmy Parnell, Jr. (Sharon) and Paul Parnell (Kathy), all of Antreville; sister, Ann Hutchinson (Kelly) of Anderson; two grandchildren, Kattie Granger Walker (Zach) and Courtney Howell (Dennis Honicutt); three great-grandchildren, Ellie Walker, Lorie Honicutt and Wyatt Honicutt; and many extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends 5:00PM – 7:00PM, Sunday, July 20, 2025, at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 4:00PM, Monday, July 21, 2025, at Little River Baptist Church, 2847 Keowee Road, Honea Path, SC 29654 with Rev. Garrett Hart officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorial contributions, in memory of Steve, may be sent to the Antreville Volunteer Fire Department,147 Hwy. 184, Abbeville, SC 29620.
