Stephen “Steve” Jay Tolbert, 58, of Mount Airy, North Carolina passed away March 30, 2025. Born March 31, 1966, to the late Jay Tolbert and the late Frances Lorene Hutson Perdue in Surry County, North Carolina. Steve was a hardworking man; working as a pipe fitter for several years. He was generous, selfless, and giving. He loved to make people happy and was always trying to get a laugh out of you. An avid outdoorsman, Steve enjoyed hunting and fishing. Steve also was an incredibly proud father and would do anything for his children. He was a devoted grandpa, and when it came to his grandkids, he was a child at heart with them. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Tonya Dalton Tolbert; daughter and son-in-law, Brittany Phillips and Mark; son, Colton Tolbert; and grandchildren, Macie Tolbert, Lydia Bradley, Madison Tolbert, Phoebe Phillips, and Zoë Phillips. The family will receive friends Sunday, April 6, 2025, from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at Moody-Davis Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held following the visitation at 2:00 PM in the Moody-Davis Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will take place in the Blackwater Community Church Cemetery. Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson, NC is serving the Tolbert family.
