Stephen Dwayne Thomas, affectionately known as "Steve," passed away on Friday, May 16, 2025. Born on May 11, 1960, in Lebanon, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Melvin Thomas and Margaret Langrell Thomas.
Steve was a local skilled carpenter whose craftsmanship was admired by many. With a lively personality and a resilient spirit, he approached life with an entertaining flair that could light up any room. His friends and family fondly remember him as a caring individual who fought valiantly through life's challenges, always maintaining his characteristic warmth and humor.
An Elvis Presley fan at heart, Steve's enthusiasm for the King of Rock and Roll was well-known. He could recount facts and tales about Elvis with remarkable detail, and this passion resonated deeply within him, adding a unique layer to his vibrant personality.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings Melvin "Buddy" Thomas and Melba Thomas.
He is survived by his children: Amie Jo (Brandon Midkiff) Thomas, Jason (Rhonda) Thurman, Aaron Jared (Brianna) Thomas, and Stevie (Cory Malone) Saylor. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Haley (Tyler) Darling, Gabrielle (Skyler) Manning, Jasmine McDaniel, Heaven (Blake) Riley, Sage Johnson, Jazline Thurman, Aleigha Thurman, Breña Thomas, LeiLi Thomas, Maverick Malone; great-grandchildren, Amiya Riley, Kayden Manning, Rory Darling, Wrenley Riley, with Kolter Thomas Manning and Warren Jason Darling, who are on the way; and his sister, Barbara Gibbs.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 27, from 4pm til 7pm at Alexander Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Gallatin. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 28, at 1pm at the funeral home. The family will welcome friends and visitors two hours prior to the funeral on Wednesday. Burial will follow in Sumner Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Jason Thurman, Aaron Thomas, Aiden Thomas, Blake Riley, Tyler Darling, and Skyler Manning. Honorary pallbearers will be Dillon Lannom, Tanner Lannom, Conner Thomas, Jacob Thomas, Tyler Thomas, Corey Malone, Brandon Midkiff, Cody Gammons, Colton Gammons, Sage Johnson, Scott Keogh,and Cameron Evans.
