Stephen Toth Obituary

Visit the O'Brien Funeral Home - Bristol website to view the full obituary.
Stephen M. Toth, 96, of Burlington, CT passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2026. He was born on October 14, 1929 in Trenton, NJ, son of the late Stephen J. and Anna (Spisak) Toth. He lived in Bristol until 1966 when he moved to Burlington.

He moved to Chelmsford Crossing Assisted Living for the last almost 3 years. The family would like to thank the very caring staff at Chelmsford Crossing for their wonderful care during his last years.

Steve was the loving husband of the late Mary Toth for 61 years before her passing in 2018. Steve proudly served his country in the United States Army and took advantage of being stationed in Europe to visit many cities. He was a "do-it-yourself" kind of man; he could fix just about anything and taught his son and daughter to follow in his footsteps. In his earlier years, he enjoyed photography, especially developing and printing his own photos and took many photos for friends.

Steve worked for many years at The Stanley Works as a tool and die maker, retiring in 1996. He was a parishioner of St. Gregory the Great church in Bristol for over 67 years.

Few things pleased him more than playing imaginative games with his children and then his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Nothing put a smile on his face like the joy of little children, as he was always young at heart.

Steve is survived by his son Michael Toth and his wife Janice of Dunstable, MA; daughter Cynthia Toth of Bristol; grandchildren Michelle Deegan and her husband Brian, Evan Toth and his wife Hannah Breault; great-grandchildren Connor, Emilia and Ava Deegan, a sister-in-law and several nephews and a niece.

Besides his wife and parents, Steve is predeceased by his siblings Joseph Toth and Margaret Shea.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026 starting at 11AM until a funeral home service that will begin at 12PM. Burial and military honors will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Joseph School, 335 Center Street Bristol, Connecticut 06010.
