Stephen Wayne troy was born July 14th, 1948, in Michigan City, Indiana, to Russell W. Troy and Alice J. Phillips (Both Deceased). He was the oldest of three children, Darrel G. troy, who predeceased him, and Vicky McCormick, who survived him.
He was originally married to Liz Lindsey and is survived by three children: Wayne S. Troy, Ian C. Troy (Olinka) and Lindsey Troy (Tina). Additionally, he is survived by two grandchildren, Logan A. Troy and Stevie J. Troy.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Troy, of Magdalena, New Mexico. Through this union, he is additionally survived by her family, Children John (Leanne) Simmons and Wendy Willingham (Kash); Grandchildren Kortnie Dotson (Andrew), Jordan Vaughn (James), Kaitlin Warden, Kash (Cham) Winningham and Kendrick Simmons; great-grandchildren Maddison, Morgan, Oliver, Christian, Kenji and Kai.
Steve grew up in Michigan City, IN, Phoenix, AZ and Las Cruces, NM. Upon graduation from Mayfield High School, he attended Western New Mexico University in Silver City, where he met and married Liz. They first moved to Albuquerque, NM, and then to Phoenix, AZ. They finally settled in Socorro, NM, where he began his 25-year career as an HVAC technician and engineer at the Very Large Array radio telescope observatory.
Additionally, he started the business Troy Mechanical Services, which provided repair services to underserved rural areas of the state until he was unable due to illness.
He enjoyed travelling, specifically to various Disney destinations, camping in his fifth wheel. In addition to travel, he enjoyed entertaining family and friends at his home in Magdelena.
He passed on August 13th, 2025 (aged 77), at Presbyterian Rust Medical Center with loved ones in attendance. Per Steve's wishes, there will be no services.
