Stephen A. Wright, Jr., age 83, of Pembroke, MA, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2024 after a long illness with Alzheimer's disease. Stephen is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marie A. Wright of Pembroke, MA, son Stephen J. Wright and his wife Karen Flaim-Wright, daughter Paula M. Wright, and son Michael D. Wright, all of Pembroke, MA, grandson Matthew P. Rivera, of Pembroke, MA, granddaughter Meghan E. Rivera, of Raynham, MA, granddaughter Destiny M. Wright and grandson Jayden D. Wright, both of Whitman, MA, and great grandson Tyler P. Johnston-Rivera of Ontario, New York. Stephen is also survived by his brother William J. Wright of Squantum, MA, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Stephen was born in Boston on November 23, 1940 to the late Stephen and Mary Wright. He grew up in Squantum and graduated from Quincy North High School in 1959. Stephen began his long career as an electrician with IBEW - Local 103 until he retired. Most recently he received his 64 year pin for being a proud union member of the brotherhood.
In 1964, he married the love of his life Marie and they settled in the town of Pembroke where they remained for six decades.
Stephen was a hockey player during his youth. He typically played goalie and was affectionately known as "red light Wright" ! Stephen continued his love of hockey with his two sons. In the 70s and 80s, Stephen became immersed into the Pembroke Youth Hockey program where he supported, coached, and participated in the growth of the program including many successful years with the youth hockey exchange. Stephen was a devoted coach who left an indelible impact on the players he coached and gained lifelong friends long after the youth hockey years ended.
Stephen and Marie were avid golfers and traveled to so many destinations throughout their years together. But no destination was as special to them than their cherished years together in Palm Springs, California and Naples, Florida.
Stephen was the epitome of a good man. He left a lasting impact on all who were fortunate to be a part of his life. A man who loved his wife, his children, his grandchildren, and his extended family. A cherished and close friend to so many that remained constant from his childhood to his last days.
