His Legacy Stephen Thompson Young, 42, passed away suddenly on November 3, 2024. He was born on May 29, 1982, in Ypsilanti, Michigan to Roy Young and Lee Anne (Jenkins) Young. Stephen was the Chief Information Officer at Common Ground in Pontiac, Michigan. He was excellent at his job and always willing to help wherever needed. Stephen loved to play golf and was always working to perfect his game. He was a gifted artist and also performed many do-it-yourself projects at his home. Stephen enjoyed traveling, history, going to concerts and comedy shows. He was funny and witty, and had a dry sense of humor. Stephen had a big heart for animals, he loved his cats and also took care of all of the neighborhood feral cats, feeding them and building them shelters. He loved his family very much and enjoyed spending time with them. Stephen was dearly loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing him and he will be greatly missed.
His Family Stephen will be missed by his parents, Roy and Lee Anne Young; siblings, Kristopher (Jill) Young, Erin (Craig) Delap; nieces and nephews, Owen, Wyatt, Brinley, Madison; grandmother, Nedra Jenkins; along with his Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.
His Farewell Stephen's family and friends will gather Friday, November 8, 2024, from 4:00PM-8:00PM, at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Hamburg Chapel. His Community Farewell will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at 2:00PM (1PM gathering), at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Hamburg Chapel. Pastor Steve Lebar will serve as celebrant. Although we were not friends, and honesty were not even aware of each other We played basketball against each other. I went to agape and he went to Plymouth Christian where all the cool kids and cute girls went. That was always jealous of my good friend Kurt who went to that school, but Kurt Steve and I did not play much because there was so much talent. A year or so later Steve and I became good friends after high school graduation. We both laughed about being the chubby kid who set the bench. Even though we didn't know each other, we did have a mutual friend in Kurt. That mutual friend grew to dozens of other helpful and loving relationships. But it's funny that Steve o and I would always laugh about being the fat kid sitting on the bench in high school basketball.
