Sterling Foster Boyers, 68, of Dillwyn, went to be with his heavenly Father on Sunday, October 26, 2025. He was born on March 17, 1957, to David "Doc" Boyers and Katherine "Ms. Kitty" Boyers, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his beloved son, William Foster Boyers.
Sterling is survived by his loving wife, Cathy; his daughter, Buffy Mangus (Scott); his son, Taylor Boyers (Mamie); and his stepchildren, Adam Pankey (Chelsie), Samantha Pankey, Brandon Shanks (Raechelle), and Scotty Shanks (Kasey). He leaves behind a proud legacy in his grandchildren: Reece, Avery, Ellie, Tessa, Mallory, Will, Jake, Owen, Lucy, Emma, Alena, Kate, Lainey, and Heath. He is also survived by his siblings, Gloria Shull and Paul "PD" Boyers.
Sterling was a well-known diesel mechanic in the community, with over 48 years of experience. A true master of his craft, his expertise was unmatched, and he earned the respect of many in the area. His commitment to his work was a testament to his character, and he took great pride in his skills.
A lover of Labrador Retrievers, Sterling's dog Reba will miss him dearly. He was also a passionate truck puller, known in the area for his iconic "Red Rag," and in his later years, he enjoyed playing billiards with friends and family. Sterling's generosity, loyalty, and vibrant spirit made him a friend to everyone, and his kindness will be remembered by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at Bethlehem Baptist Church. The family will begin receiving friends at 12 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 1 p.m.
The Boyers family extends their gratitude for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support during this time.
