Obituary
Guest Book
Beloved son, brother, grandson and friend was born Saturday April 6, 1996 at Logan Regional Hospital to Alisha (Horne) Hoopes and Justin Cooley.
Sterling passed away August 7th, 2023 at his home in Wellsville, Utah at the young age of 27.
Sterling enjoyed many things in life including hunting up at the property, being a helping hand to his papa, spending time with family, friends and most of all he loved being the chosen uncle to Skarlett, Lilly, Cannon, Jaxxyn, Ava and soon to be nephew, Sawyer.
From a very early age it was very apparent that Sterling was born to be outside, he loved nothing more than hunting with his nana, papa and best friend, Colten. He was involved and excelled in boy scouts, becoming an avid sportsman, and eventually found a love for sports, including soccer, baseball, football and wrestling, whether that was on the mat or with his sisters even if they didn’t consent to participating in basement WWE.
Once he hit his teenage years, hanging out with his sisters wasn’t cool anymore. He found amazing friends in Colten, Kason, Zane and many others. He caused more mischief than good, like driving around Cache Valley collecting garden gnomes from strangers yards, leading to his mothers surprise gnome collection. When he wasn’t causing trouble, Sterling found a love for hard work starting at his first job at West Point Dairy. While holding his full time job, Sterling graduated from Cache High in 2014.
After high school he continued his work career trying to find his passion which he found in machine work and electrical work, ending his career managing Furry Friends Pet Boarding.
Sterling without a doubt was truly loved by all those who had the honor of knowing him and will be missed beyond measure.
He is survived by his mother, Alisha Hoopes (Riley); father, Justin Cooley (Corylynne); siblings, McKatie Denson (Garrett), Shancie Gallo (Isaac), Randon Hoopes (Lexi), Taylee Hoopes, Kylee, Karter and Dax Cooley; grandparents, Darwin Hill, Cindy Tolle (Mike), Randy and Linda Hoopes; great grandfather, Leon McDonald; and many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
He is proceeded in death by his grandmothers, Larraine Hill and Virginia Cooley; grandfathers, Mike Horne and Norris Cooley; uncle, Zac Horne; and his beloved baby we weren’t blessed to meet.
