Othello, Washington - Sterling Ross Peterson, a resident of Othello, Washington, passed away June 24, 2022. He was born September 23, 1984 in Richland, Washington; the third son born to Brenda Taylor Peterson and Stan Peterson.
He had a childhood filled with fond memories of his family and living in the country in Basin City and Othello and in Issaquah, Washington. He graduated from Connell High School. After graduation from high school, he then attended college in Rexburg, Idaho for two years.
While in Issaquah, he was a starting pitcher on his Little League Team and was selected to the All Star Team as pitcher.
In High School he was an exchange student and lived near Hamburg, Germany, where he went to school with a German friend who had stayed with Sterling's family in Othello. He took pleasure in playing basketball with his classmates in Germany.
He enjoyed sports all his life and played on the High School football team that won the State Championship. He particularly liked playing tennis and he and his double's partner won the State Championship when he was a junior and they finished second in State when Sterling was a senior.
Also, while in High School he served as an intern to Washington State Senator, Valoria Loveland.

He enjoyed working as an electrician and worked mainly on commercial projects including churches, a Temple, hospitals, schools, libraries and some businesses and residential properties.
He was full of energy and in a state of constant movement. At family get togethers at his parents' home he would be the one working on something, such as pruning the trees in the backyard, while the rest of his family was talking together.
Sterling developed a love of gardening and flowers from his mother and had numerous potted plants and a garden at his home. He built a small enclosed greenhouse for some tree starts. He was always trying to plant something new just to see if he could get it to grow.
