Steven Barrett, 70, passed away on May 23, 2025 at his home in Gothenburg, NE.
Steve was born on May 13, 1955 in Kimball,NE to Howard and Marilyn (Galyardt) Barrett.
Steve attended school at Banner County, kindergarten through high school. He then majored in Agri Business at Western Dakota Technical College and Eastern Wyoming College. He lived in Kimball and Gothenburg, NE where he worked for Bellamy Feed and worked the last 29 years at Schaben Sanitation.
He enjoyed spending time camping, family gatherings, driving country roads, reading, trips to South Dakota and Montana, collecting antiques, and reminiscing about the family farm.
Preceded in death by his mother, Marilyn Barrett, father, Howard Barrett, step-mother, Shirley Barrett, brother-in-law, Barry Ross, nephew, Chance Barrett, mother and father-in-law, Donna and Bernard Garrelts, sisters-in-law, Kathy Garrelts, and Kanda Earll.
Steve is survived by his wife, Karen Barrett, daughters, Kori (Toby) Harm of Gretna, NE; Holly Barrett (Hallie Casto) of Ogallala, NE; grandchildren, Addison, Gracie, Charleigh Harm, Mariah (Clancey) Barnum, great-grandchild, Paisley Barnum, sister, Karen Barrett-Ross of Sacramento, CA, brothers, Dan (Linda) Barrett of Kimball, NE; Ben (Patrick) Barrett of Lincoln, NE; step-brothers, John (Betty) Dier of Windsor, MO, Jim (Debbie) Dier of Holt, MO, grandpuppies, Harper and Indy, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Memorial Services will be held Thursday, May 29, 2025, Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, 620 10th St, Gothenburg, NE with Lawrence Wendelin officiating. The family requests everyone wear casual clothes.
Memorials may be designated to the family for later designation.
