Steve Farris Obituary
Mr. Farris was born January 10, 1954 in Jonesboro, AR. He was the former Deputy and Chief Investigator at Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, and the 13th Judicial District Adult Probation Officer, Since 1995 he has served as Deputy Director at Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Jack Farris; brother, Chad Farris; and grandmother, Mabel Gallaher.
Survivors include his wife, Patti Farris of Camden; sons, Slade Farris of Camden, and Damon Ledbetter of Hawaii; daughters, Casey Farris of Magnolia, and Dawn Farris of Fouke; mother, Anna Farris of Arkadelphia, sister, Carrie Farris of New York, New York; granddaughters, Morgan Grace Dendy of Magnolia, Emma Beth Rainey of Magnolia, and Nicollette Farris of Fouke; Uncle and Aunt, Clyde and Peggy Briggs of Arkadelphia; and many nieces and nephews and cousins.
Memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Monday, May 18, 2009 at the SAU Tech Gymnasium. Proctor Funeral Home of Camden is in charge of arrangements. To sign the online guest register go to www.proctorfuneralhome.com.
Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.

Aunt Anna, Carrie and Patti,
I am so sorry to hear about Steve. Although I hadn't seen him in years, I, like cousin Mike, have such great memories of playing with my cool older cousins, Steve and Chad, on the farm in Tennessee. Steve taught his country cousins that cats do indeed land on their feet when dropped from the barn loft. Our home movies of Steve and Chad as kids are priceless. Steve was such a beautiful kid and always smiling in those clips. I know my mom and dad have so enjoyed spending time with Steve over the years.

Dear Mrs. Farris (Anna) and Patti and family -
So sorry to receive word of Steve's death. He was such a fun-loving part of our childhood in Memphis. I was with friends in Memphis yesterday at another funeral and we enjoyed sharing memories of Steve's exploits at church retreats, at the basketball hoop in the Ray Allen backyard, his outlandish sense of humor, and the list goes on.

Anna, I am just now getting the notice about Steve's death, and am so sorry to hear it. I never felt that I got to know Steve as well as I should have, but I'll always remember Jack's story about the broken plate, and his answer (typical Jack) "which plate?".

Mrs. Farris,
I never met Mr. Farris but talked and argued with him many times over the computer on Fearless Friday. We live near Memphis and I enjoyed reading about the way Memphis use to be when he was living here. He made us laugh and smile many times. He will be greatly missed on FF. I'm sure he is making someone laugh right now in Heaven. Your family is in our prayers.

We were very saddened to hear about Steve. Many of my childhood memories are of playing football with Steve, Chad and Eddie...in various backyards in various places. Patti,
Phyllis and I just heard about Steve this morning after I got to work. We are so sorry. He always brightened up the place when he walked into the room. My first thoughts this morning when I heard the news was seeing him standing in the Country Club, with a red shirt, white shorts, the always present sunglasses, and me asking him if he was "Thinking about buying a Cadillac". We will miss him so much.

I only met Steve and Slade once, but have communicated with him quite a bit over the computer for the past 3 years, arguing about football and such. A straight shooter and a stand up guy.
