Steve Columbis Ferguson, 76, of Wellington, died at home this past April. Born on November 4, 1948 in Elyria, he was the son of the late Preston Gray Ferguson and Dory Edith (nee Redwine) Slone. Steve grew up in Elyria and North Ridgeville and was a graduate of North Ridgeville High School. He later made his home in Penfield and most recently in Wellington.
Steve was independent and self motivated and after working briefly for Ford, he ventured out on his own, starting his own auto body shop and briefly owning a marina. He was a member of the Wellington Eagles #2051. He enjoyed fishing and taking family trips out on his boat. Steve also shared many special memories with his son Chris, taking him to motocross races.
Steve is survived by his children, Christopher Ferguson, of Huntington, and Kristine (James) Dawson, of Wellington; grandchildren, Brock, Vance, and Dexter; and brothers, Terry and Kenneth. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Preston Ferguson, Dora Slone; step-father, James Slone; and siblings, Volney, Ray, Venis, and Lois.
Friends and family will be received on Monday, June 2, at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main Street, Wellington, from 10 a.m. until the time of services beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. My condolences to Steve´s family, I had great memories of him growing up. We did a lot of car stuff together. I´ll never forget a few wild rides in his Corvette. Rest in peace cousin you will be missed.
