Steve Gulin, born on July 20, 1946, in Detroit, Michigan, passed away on September 28, 2024, in Ypsilanti, Michigan, at the age of 78. A dedicated family man and a hardworking business owner, Steve's life was marked by his unwavering commitment, not only to his loved ones but to his community as well. Steve was the proud owner of numerous restaurants and bars, he retired from the Mel Bar and Grill after 30 years where he worked tirelessly to ensure his family's well-being. His entrepreneurial spirit and determination were evident in every endeavor he undertook. Steve gave back to his community in several ways including Toys for Tots, donating turkeys and honey-baked hams to families in need, supporting local baseball teams, and contributing to many fundraisers throughout the years. His kindness and generosity were unmatched, as he never thought about himself and always put others' needs before his own.
Steve had a passion that brought him immense joy-fishing. During this time, he spent countless hours casting his line off his pontoon at his cherished cottage on Perch Lake, where he found peace and joy with his beloved wife, Anna, making memories together at their home away from home. Steve treasured the time spent fishing with his grandsons and relaxing around the campfire He was also an active member of the Eagles Club where he had many laughs with friends and family while at the cottage.
Steve was preceded in death by the love his life, Anna Gulin; his parents, Louis and Pauline Gulin; and his brother, Tommy Gulin. He is survived by his devoted daughters, Diana Gulin (John) Shubnell and Michelle Gulin Murphy. He was a cherished grandfather to Steven (Mikayla), Dominick, Bailey Tyler, and a proud great-grandfather to Levi. Steve also leaves behind his loving sister, Donna Gulin (Rick) Fuller; his nephew, Ricky (Shana) Fuller and his niece, Shannon Fuller along with other family members.
Diana and Michelle described their dad as the rock of the family. They will miss him immensely and his legacy will continue through the values and love he instilled in them. He was always just a phone call away, whether it was to help with a repair or to lend an ear and offer advice. Steve Gulin's life was a testament to hard work, devotion, and love. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his memory will forever remain in our hearts.
