Steve Singleton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Langkamp Funeral Chapel & Crematory on Dec. 27, 2025.
Steve Singleton, 86, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Friday, December 26, 2025, at the Northbrook Nursing and Rehab Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Harley Steve Singleton, son of Charles "Howard" and Helen Marie (Carlson) Singleton, was born August 6, 1939, in Creston, Iowa. His father served in the Red Cross during and after WWII. During that time, the family lived in Chicago and Waukegan, IL, and later moved to Albia and then to Rose Hill, Iowa, where his father ran a butcher shop and a locker/grocery store. Steve was a 1957 graduate of Rose Hill High School and then studied electronics at Iowa State University for one year. His first professional job was with Rockwell Collins, Inc. in Cedar Rapids in 1961. Steve remained with the company until his retirement in 1996, performing a variety of jobs in the environmental and production lines. Steve had a passion for traveling and classic cars; he loved reliving his adventures and pondering the details of the cars he admired the most. He also enjoyed classical guitar, big band music, and reading mysteries and fiction.

His family includes his cousins, Deb Muldoon of Omaha, NE, and Jackie Morehead of Albia; and nine second cousins: Bill Morehead, Joy Davis, Cori DeMoss, Jeff Brunkhorst, Lexie Sizemore, Heidi Lyle, Brad Brunkhorst, Josh Brunkhorst, and Kyle Brunkhorst.

In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his cousin, Greg Morehead, and Barb Brunkhorst.

As was his wish, Steve's body has been cremated, and a private graveside service will be held at Oak View Cemetery in Albia, Iowa. Langkamp Funeral Chapel & Crematory has been entrusted with Steve's final arrangements. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Red Cross.
