Steve Richard Smith, age 88, of Pleasant View, Tennessee, died Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at The Waterford in Clarksville.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12 o'clock noon, Monday, January 19th, at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View with Bro. Blaine Rogers officiating.

Burial will follow at 2:45PM in Spring Hill Cemetery in Nashville with grandsons & great-grandsons serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday beginning at 9:00AM until the hour of service at 12:00 noon.

Mr. Steve was born on October 24, 1937, in Nashville, Tennessee, to the late Jack & Nell Smith. His career included numerous endeavors including school teacher, college professor, contractor, and antiques dealer: in addition, he had served in the National Guard. His heart was praying for the sick and sharing the Gospel of Christ. He loved to crappie fish and was a "fisherman of men". He attended First Baptist Joelton.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; and brothers, Paul Smith and "Little Jack" Smith.

He is survived by his daughter, Stephanie (Jeffrey) Dowlen; sons, Larry (Debbie) Smith and Barry (Eileen) Smith; brothers, Perry (Sue) Smith, Robert (Kathy) Smith, Jimmy Smith, Claude (Linda) Smith, and Larry (Donna) Smith; sister, Jean Wellbeloved; sister-in-law, Linda Smith; 7 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
