Steve C. Smoak

Mr. Steve Carol Smoak, 81, died early Palm Sunday (April 10, 2022).
Dad was the father of two, grandfather of six and the soul mate of Gaynell for 47 years.
He was born on the farm north of Metter to Owens and Madie Smoak. Dad had three brothers, J.M., Lamar, and Britt; four sisters, Margarette, Faye, Pearline and Nina.
He grew up in agriculture and it shaped his spirit. Professionally, Dad started with Sears and Roebuck in Brunswick, working his way to service manager. Having originated the first curriculum, he taught refrigeration at Ware Tech (Coastal Pines Technical College), while continuing installations for Sears. Smoak's Heating and Air was his professional dream. He and his company served owners and general contractors in Southeast Georgia until his retirement in 1987.
Survivors include his daughter, Millecent Smoak Hewett (Michael) of Waycross; his son, Steven R. "Rusty" Smoak of Atlanta; grandchildren, Fitz, Lindsay, Ella and Kristen Smoak, Ben and Neve Nelms; one sister, Nina Lanier; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday (April 14, 2022) at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. A private burial will be held at Connors Baptist Church Cemetery in Cobbtown. The family will receive friends 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
