Mary "Louise" Gray Smoak

CORDOVA - Mary "Louise" Gray Smoak, 91, of Cordova, S.C., and widow of Richard Dean Smoak, Sr., passed away on January 12, 2026 at Rolling Green Village in Greenville, S.C. following a period of declining health.

Louise was the daughter of the late Thomas Woodrow Gray, Sr and Lizzie Mae Fogle Gray of Cordova, S.C. Louise was a lifelong high school business teacher and a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Cordova, S.C. In addition to her husband and parents, Louise was preceded in death by siblings, Richard Gray of Slidell, La., Tyrone Gray of Cordova, S.C. and an infant sister, Deborah Gray of Cordova, S.C.

Surviving are her three children, Dean Smoak (Ellen) of Marion, S.C., Terry (Rebecca) of Winston-Salem, N.C. and Deidre Nall (Doug) of Greer, S.C.; seven grandchildren, Jonathan Smoak (Kelly), Emily Knight (Jodie), Hayden Nall (Erin), Rolland Nall (Allison), Graham Nall, Elizabeth Smoak, Andrew Knight; and four great-grandchildren, Harrison Smoak, Emory Smoak, Theodore Nall and Abigail Nall. In addition, she is survived by a brother, T. Woodrow "Buck" Gray (Imogene); one sister, Janet Myers; and three sisters-in-law, Doris Gray, Peggy Smoak and Maroma Smoak; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, January 25, 2026 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Dukes-Harley Funeral Home and Crematory, 3379 Columbia Road, Orangeburg, SC 29118. A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 26, 2026 at 11 a.m. at Dukes-Harley Funeral Home. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
