Steve Stelling Obituary
November 8, 1947 - June 9, 2025
Steven G. Stelling, 77, of Kearney, passed away Monday, June 9, 2025, at Kearney Regional Medical Center in Kearney.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at New Life Church, with Pastor Roger Wendt officiating.
Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Camp Carol Joy Holling (NLOM) or to the Todd Becker Foundation. Condolences may be shared online at www.osrfh.com. Services are entrusted to O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral and Cremation Services.
Steve was born November 8, 1947, in Fairbury, Neb., to Vernon and Dorothy Nell (Sittler) Stelling. He was raised in Deshler, Neb., and received his education from St. Peter Lutheran Parochial School, graduating with the class of 1965. Steve later attended Kearney State College where he earned his bachelor's degree in January of 1971. On June 12, 1969, Steve was united in marriage to Sharon K. Gerdes at Peace Lutheran Church in Deshler, Neb. Following graduation, he was drafted into the U.S. Army. Steve was trained at Ft. Sill, Okla., and later served with the 3rd Battalion 84th Field Brigade in Neckarsulm, Germany. After his honorable discharge, Steve moved back to Nebraska where he began his career in Center Pivot irrigation sales and service. Steve and Sharon owned and operated Central Valley Irrigation of Kearney for 31 years.
Steve enjoyed woodworking, music, motorcycles, golfing and cycling. He was an avid hunter when he was younger and recently enjoyed shooting sports and loading shells. Steve was a charter member of the Ft. Kearney Outdoor Shooting Sports.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sharon Stelling, of Kearney; children, Jeffrey (Kandi) Stelling, Christopher (Dana) Stelling, and Angela Stelling, all of Kearney; grandchildren, Mariah (Noah) Murrish, Cassidy Stelling, Phillip Stelling, Henry Stelling, Sara Mae Stelling; great-grandchild, Andrew Murrish; sister, Sally Jo (Ron) Fink, of Crete; as well as many extended family and friends and his beloved dog, Lulu.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
